Martin Steenhaut is a passionate wildlife photographer who wants to show the beauty and fragility of our nature with strong moments and unique looks. A very versatile photographer with a passion for birds, mammals and backlighting. Each photo always contains a story, made with the greatest respect for its subject. A photo is not a trophy that can be taken at any cost. With the growing popularity of nature photography, there is an unwanted pressure on nature. Therefore, respecting your subject and avoiding disturbance is a rule. And this thought is also found in every image of Martin.
With regular exhibitions, conferences and publications, he shares his passion with the general public. His work has been awarded several times around the world in important photo competitions. Among this let us mention a 2nd place in the
World Photographic Cup in the USA and main winner in Montier-en-Der and other foreign competitions. He received the highest European label, as Master Qualified European Wildlife Photographer, and became FEP European Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Sharing his moments and making people aware of our fragile nature remains his highest motivation.
Martins presentation is called “THE QUEST FOR CATS in the jungle of Guatemala”. He has spent several years exploring the fantastic primary jungle of Guatemala. This mainly unexplored jungle is home to many impressive species. His primary goal was to track down and photograph big cats like the Jaguar, Ocelot, Puma and others. By using different techniques he tried to get these animals in front of his lens.
In this interesting lecture Martin takes you deep into the jungle to show you exactly his approach and technical ways to try and see these big cats. If he succeeded? You can discover that in this fascinating story.
